Fundraiser Promotes Lockboxes For Seniors

SCOTTSDALE, AZ — On Sunday May 10th, groups of family and friends joined the Scottsdale Area Association of REALTORS® (SAAR) to raise funds for the Lockboxes for Seniors Program at CrackerJax Family Fun and Sports Park. SAAR has teamed up with the Scottsdale Police Department, Scottsdale Fire Department and Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office to provide the lockboxes for this program, to ensure a Senior’s home can be accessed in case of emergency.

“It was great to see so many people having so much fun for such a great cause,” Lee McGhee, SAAR Chairman of theLockboxes for Seniors fundraiser at CrackerJaxCommunity Outreach and  Awareness Committee.

Lockboxes For Seniors has distributed over 1600 lockboxes to Seniors in the Scottsdale and Fountain Hills area over the last decade. Volunteers from SAAR and the SAAR Community Outreach and Awareness Committee work with the Police Department and Sheriff’s Office to distribute the lockboxes.

"All of us thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon at CrackerJax,” said Carol Goyena, SAAR Volunteer and REALTOR® in the Fountain Hills Area.  “My grandson actually got a hole-in-one three different times, and he's only 4-years-old."

The lockboxes are provided free through this program to Seniors, whose annual income is less than $25,000 and for a donation of $25 to all others. One hundred percent of the donations are applied to the purchase of the lockboxes.
If you would like to be involved in or have any questions about this worthwhile project, please contact Juliet Nelson, Lockbox Program Coordinator, at Juliet@SAARonline.com or call 480-945-2651.
